Second generation Apple TV switches to obsolete product drawer

The second-generation Apple TV is now considered v intage in the United States and Turkey. Instead, in the rest of the world it went into the category of "obsolete" products. Something with which not many will be happy or agree.

The second generation Apple TV is added to the list of obsolete products

Apple has just updated the list of  vintage and obsolete products . In it appears the Apple TV of 2nd generation. This one appears like  vintage in the United States and Turkey, since it is between 5 and 7 years. On the other hand, the rest of the world figures as obsolete.
And what does this mean? This means that you can currently only have official technical support for this device in Turkey and California. So you have to take good care of it, since you can only repair it in a third-party service or in the Apple service in those regions.

Goodbye to a great device

The worst thing about this is the "goodbye".
But ... can we really consider this device obsolete? The second-generation Apple TV was released in 2010 , and features an A4 processor , the same as the original iPhone 4 or iPad. As for that sense, we can consider that the hardware is a little behind. In addition, the maximum resolution of this device was 720p , although at that time was not an inconvenience, today it is difficult to get the idea. Finally, comment that this was the first Apple TV to have a small size and a black color.
And was successful this model of Apple TV? Although two years later came the Apple TV third generation , this was quite successful . This third model had the processor A5 (the same as the iPhone 4S and iPad 2). But the main novelty of it was that its maximum resolution was 1080p, ie  Full HD . For the rest, the device was practically the same.
So was second-generation success successful? Yes. In fact, there were many people who bought second-generation second-hand Apple TV in front of an Apple TV 3, even though it was more expensive. And because? For the Jailbreak . At that time the Jailbreak opened many doors , and was not available in the third generation Apple TV. So many people bought the second generation Apple TV for the Jailbreak, even if they had to pay more.

Conclusion

Apple has named this device obsolete, but that does not mean that it really is. What do you think? Do you have one of these? Do you consider it obsolete as Apple?
