There are signs that Apple may be preparing an Apple TV that reaches 4K resolution

One of the main criticisms that have been made to the Apple TV so far is that it does not reach 4K UHDV resolution , that is, 3840 x 2160 pixels , remaining only in Full HD 1080p (1920 x 1080 pixels). Since the Apple TV has App Store, as a device has gained a lot of versatility but now that the 4K TVs are finally beginning to sell quite well around the world, it is surprising to see Apple bring to the market a product dedicated primarily to viewing content Video that does not get all the performance possible to those panels.
This situation could change soon, because they have found signs of content, namely movies , which are listed on iTunes as 4K and HDR , both features that to date no Apple TV can play. Specifically, they have appeared on the list of purchases made previously.

The curious thing is that the user of the MacRumors forum that bought that movie, could only download it in Full HD. Showing 4K in the purchase history could indicate that in a short time, Full HD versions of the films, more expensive to buy or rent, could be available in the future, also in that segment of more expensive high definition content .

The current Apple TV, if you're wondering, can not play content in 4K not because of a possible power failure on your A8 CPU (though unlikely) but because HDR requires an HDMI 2.0 port that this device does not have. New hardware is needed to get to that resolution.
