France put fine on WhatsApp for sharing data with Facebook

WhatsApp has gone back into a legal mess, as is customary. This time it has been France's turn to be one of the protagonists of this imbroglio. Here we explain what is happening .
The European country declared that, if its conditions are not met within a month, they will be entitled to sanction the instant messaging app and everyone behind it.

WhatsApp refuses to cooperate ... again

The order that France has given has been specifically that WhatsApp stop sharing all their data with the social network Facebook, which has been in operation since 2016.
WhatsApp for its part, does not have the legal basis that would allow you to shareuser data with the Facebook platform, and yet, has refused to cooperate with the authorities of the country.

Sanctions towards the company

These measures were carried out after noticing how the data of the French users were transferred to the social network. From telephone numbers to behavioral data, theywould be shared between the two platforms, a right that the company does not currently have. Also, this is not optional. The only way to avoid sharing your data is to delete your Facebook account.
If WhatsApp still refuses to cooperate with the French authorities, the CNIL will be obliged to send an internal investigator to be responsible, together with a committee, for examining the corresponding information and issuing a sanction to the company.
This is not the first time that the CNIL asks WhatsApp to stop this practice, however, these have been denied every time. WhatsApp claims that it only complies with that order on US soil , since that is where its headquarters are located.
Only one month has the company to respond to the demand of the French authorities. Once the deadline is met, we can only see what sanctions will be applied.
