Apple could launch a new 13 "MacBook instead of the MacBook Air

Apple may be planning to launch a new 13-inch MacBook that would be the new entry model for the Mac range, according to sources close to Apple's assembly line. This rumor has been launched today by the DigiTimes media, referring to Apple's LCD screen provider, which would have seen an increase in the order before the launch of a new model in 2018.

The end of MacBook Air?

Specifically the note to which we refer says the following:
Panel maker Solution General Interface (SIG) expects to supply more LCD panels to Apple, which apparently plans to launch an entry-level 13-inch MacBook in the second half of 2018, according to industry sources.
With new MacBook orders and other models, SIG is expected to increase its LCM shipments to 600,000 units per month by the end of 2018 compared to 300,000 units today, according to the different sources.
Apple wants to shelve the MacBook Air that the other day turned 10 years, since Steve Jobs took it from an envelope . It started by launching the 12-inch MacBook, but it did not make sales of the MacBook Air go down, something that made the Cupertino launch a 13-inch MacBook Pro without Touch but did not make people not buy the MacBook Air, basically for a price issue.
The last major update that MacBook Air received was in March 2015. We have only seen small updates at processor level in these years, and that is why we believe that Apple wants to move this model to the drawer.
According to the rumors, in the middle of this year we could see this new model of 13 inches, which would differ from the MacBook Pro in components and specifications, being a much more affordable range in price for all those that do not require a lot of power, due to who perform office tasks and surf the internet.
We hope it is a model with a reduced price so that more and more people can have the possibility of accessing this range without too much trouble. Do you think that this model of MacBook will be shelved?
