LG could supply the OLED panels for the 6.5-inch iPhone that Apple will launch this year

In November Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple would launch two iPhones with OLED screen this year. One would have a 5.8-inch screen , like the iPhone X , and the other would be a "Plus" model, with a 6.5-inch screen .
Now, a new rumor coming from the supply chain indicates that, although Samsung will continue to be the main supplier of the OLED panels for the smaller model, LG will be in charge of manufacturing the panels of the 6.5-inch model exclusively .
According to an article published in The Korea Herald , LG Display will begin shipments of OLED panels for the iPhone in the second half of this year:
"Apple plans to diversify OLED models this year. Sources indicate that LG Display could produce larger, 6.5-inch screens, while Samsung Display will focus on producing smaller screens of 5.8 or 6 inches.
The first shipments will not be large, amounting to around 15-16 million screens for the year. Samsung Display, the exclusive OLED provider for the current iPhone X, produces more than 10 million screens per month. "

Since July 2017 rumors have been appearing that Apple would have invested billions of dollars in LG for the production of OLED screens for smartphones, but then it was said that the investment would not begin to bear fruit until 2019, year in which, supposedly, the company would produce 45,000 OLED panels per month. However, if we are to take for granted the new rumor, the production of LG OLED panels could be more advanced than previously thought, so that the "Plus" model this year could already incorporate them.
With this Apple can begin to reduce its dependence on Samsung for their future iPhones, which undoubtedly will be looking forward to the Cupertino company.
